Lady Bears Cruise Past Morris 3-0

SUMTER, SC - The 12th ranked Clinton College volleyball team cruised to an easy 3-0 win over NAIA foe Morris College on the road Tuesday night.

The Lady Golden Bears won the first set 25-10 and the second 25-9 before closing out the Hornets 25-16 in the third. Clinton amassed 20 kills in the first set alone before tallying nine kills in the second and nine more in the third.

Freshman middle blocker Monica Burns led the Bears recording 11 kills with just one error hitting .588 with two aces and seven digs. Fellow middle, junior Alexia Cunningham also added 4 kills and 3 digs.

Freshman setter Sierra Faulkner led Clinton with 28 assists along with hitting five aces, a kill, and collecting 8 digs. Junior OH Amoni Washington also played well getting 10 kills while hitting .389 along with fellow junior OH Sierra Smith, who registered 6 kills and 7 digs and hit .308 with an assist and an ace.

Fellow hitters Alesha Canady and Tatiana Maddox also combined for five kills while junior libero Love Landon tallied team-bests with 12 digs and 7 aces. Senior DS Ashanti Washington also added five digs, five aces, and a kill.

Clinton improves to 8-8 on the season while Morris falls to 0-5.

The Bears will now return home to host NCCAA foe, Bob Jones University on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm.
