
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Clinton College volleyball team edged Div. II Allen University 3-2 on Wednesday night to pick up their 6th win of the season on the road in Columbia.
Clinton won the first two sets via scores of 25-23 and 25-15 on 31 kills hitting .190 and .267. Allen then took the next two winning 25-14 and 25-23 on 28 kills. CC then got out to a 5-1 lead on AU in the 5th set before Allen rallied to lead 10-9. Clinton would end the match on a 6-3 run with 11 kills for the win.
Clinton totaled 64 kills on the night led by three players posting 16 or more. The Bears also had three players with 20 or more digs, both program records. Finally, freshman setter Sierra Faulkner broke her school record by tallying 55 assists on the night and also grabbed 17 digs for another double-double. Faulkner added 2 kills and 2 blocks as well.
Freshman middle hitter Monica Burns led Clinton with 21 kills and only 6 errors hitting .319 along with 2 aces and 3 blocks. Junior outside hitters Amoni Washington and Sierra Smith played terrific games as well combining for 36 kills and 28 digs. Washington had 19 kills and 7 digs to hit .115 while Smith recorded 16 kills and a career-best 21 digs with a block hitting .127.
Junior Libero Love Landon totaled 21 digs and a team-best 3 aces while senior DS Ashanti Washington had 23 digs and 3 assists. Junior Middle blocker Alexia Cunningham also tallied six kills and two blocks hitting .364.
Clinton improves to 6-8 overall and will next travel to Regent University in Norfolk, VA on Saturday for a 1:00 pm serve.
