
ROCK HILL, SC - The Clinton College volleyball team cruised to a tri-meet sweep on Saturday afternoon at home, winning all six sets against USCAA foe Johnson & Wales (NC) and NCCAA foe Regent University (Va.).
In the first match of the day, Clinton defeated JWU 3-0 via scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-21. Middle blocker Monica Burns led the Bears with 11 kills hitting .269 with 2 aces and 2 blocks. Fellow middle Alexia Cunningham also had 8 blocks and 5 kills.
Junior OH Sierra Smith recorded 7 kills and 11 digs with an ace and two blocks while freshman setter Sierra Faulkner had 25 assists, 5 digs, 3 block assists, one ace and a kill.
Libero Love Landon then had 12 digs while freshman DS Madyson Gillespie had 7 digs and 4 aces.
In Clinton's second win of the day over Regent, CC won by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-21. Junior OH Amoni Washington had a huge game herself scoring 18 kills and hitting .366 with 13 digs for a double-double. Burns also played well again with 12 kills and hit .435 with 2 blocks. Landon led with 20 digs while Faulkner recorded a double-double of 29 assists and 13 digs with 2 aces and 2 blocks.
Clinton improves to 5-1 on the season and will next go on the road to face JCSU on Monday evening in Charlotte at 6 pm.
