
ROCK HILL, SC - The Clinton College volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday evening falling 3-2 to Div. II foe Allen University (SC).
Clinton dropped the opening set 25-20 to the Yellow Jackets before rallying to win the second 25-22. Allen then came back to take the third 25-18 before the Bears stormed back to take the fourth 25-16 and force a deciding set. However, Allen pulled away late to steal the match winning 15-11.
Junior OH Amoni Washington led the Bears with a double-double of 14 kills and 12 digs along with two aces and hit .526 while fellow junior OH/DS Sierra Smith had 10 kills and a team-best 23 digs.
Also recording a double-double in the match was freshman setter Sierra Faulkner with 42 assists and 16 digs along with 4 blocks, 3 kills and an ace. Also playing well was freshman middle blocker Monica Burns who tallied 15 kills, 4 aces, and 2 blocks while hitting .355. Fellow middle, junior Alexia Cunningham registered 3 kills and 5 block assists as well.
The Golden Bears (3-1) next host a tri-meet against NCCAA foes Regent Univ. (VA) and Johnson & Wales (NC) on Saturday.
