
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Clinton College volleyball team rolled to their second straight win of the season Saturday evening romping past NCAA Div. II foe JCSU 3-0 from Martin Gymnasium.
The Lady Bears cruised to a set one win 25-12 after running out to a 17-4 lead. CC totaled 10 kills and hit .280 in the opener. The Bears then rallied from a mid-set deficit (12-16) to go on a 13-3 run to win 25-19 in the second set on 11 kills hitting .214.
In the third set, Clinton got out to a 21-12 lead and looked to have the match wrapped up. However, JCSU rallied going on an 11-2 run to tie the match at 23 apiece, surprising the Bears and forcing a timeout. However, Clinton would close out the Lady Bulls with back to back kills to win 25-23.
Junior OH Sierra Smith led the Bears with 10 kills and only two errors along with 4 digs, an ace, and a block hitting .267 while fellow junior hitter Amoni Washington had 8 kills and hit .217.
Freshman setter Sierra Faulkner tallied 23 assists with 9 digs and 2 kills while junior libero Love Landon led CC with 14 digs, 2 assists and an ace. Middle blockers Monica Burns and Alexia Cunningham then combined for 7 kills and 3 blocks while DS Ashanti Washington had 8 digs and 2 aces.
Clinton improves to 2-0 and will next travel down I-77 to battle Columbia College on Tuesday at 6:30.
