Clinton Opens Season with 4-set win over Columbia

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Clinton College volleyball team opened their season with a four set win at home against nearby NAIA foe Columbia College on Saturday.

Clinton won the first set 25-20 on 9 kills hitting .174 before the Koalas took the second set 25-21. The Lady Bears then came back to take the third set 25-20 on 12 kills hitting .276 before Clinton closed it out scoring the last ten points of the match to roll to the 25-10 victory in the fourth to pick up their opening win.

Clinton improves to 1-0 while Columbia fell to 0-2. Columbia totaled 33 kills in the match to Clinton's 37 while also compiling 50 digs to Clinton's 57. Clinton hit .148 for the match. 

The Golden Bears were led by freshman setter Sierra Faulkner's double-double of 32 assists and 12 digs along with two kills, two aces and a block. Junior outside hitter Sierra Smith also played well recording a double double  of a team-best 12 kills and 15 digs.

Junior libero Love Landon also had 10 digs while junior OH Amoni Washington had 9 kills and 6 digs.

The Golden Bears next remain home to face Div. II foe Johnson c. Smith on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
