The JV female student athlete of the month is...
Makiah Thompson, a standout guard on the Clinton College JV women's basketball team, showcased her skills with an impressive 16-point performance in January's match against Belmont Abbey JV.
A Business Administration major and native of Columbia, Makiah enjoys playing basketball and video games in her free time. When it comes to getting hyped before a game, she turns to Slime Mentality by NBA Youngboy.
Inspired by her mother, who she admires for her ability to make anything happen, Makiah is driven both on and off the court. After graduating from Clinton College, she aspires to become an athletic director, continuing her passion for sports in a leadership role.
Makiah's favorite food is chicken alfredo, and if she could have dinner with anyone, it would be her grandmother, whom she deeply misses since her passing. She chose Clinton College for the opportunity to play under Coach Toland and cherishes the little moments she shares with her teammates.
One of her fondest memories so far has been helping lead the JV team to their first win, marking a proud athletic achievement in her collegiate journey.
