WBB's Toland Named Coach of Year; Moore-Heath and Gaddis Receive Postseason Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Clinton College women's basketball team was celebrated with some postseason awards to honor their historic 22-win season recently. 

First-year Head Coach Toccara Toland was honored as the NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year for leading the Golden Bears to a 22-6 record, a South Region Championship and an NCCAA national tournament berth wile also achieving her 75th career win this season.

Her leadership, dedication, and belief in this team have set a new standard for Golden Bears basketball. Congratulations, Coach Toland! #BearPride #CoachOfTheYear #BuiltForThis

Junior shooting guard Tameah Gaddis was also named the South Region Player of the Year, Tournament MVP, and was named as a Third-Team NCCAA All-American.

Senior center Diamond Moore-Heath was also named a first team All-Region player as well. She averaged 20 points, 12.5 rebounds and shot 53% during the three games at Nationals.

  

OCU 73, CC 62

In the 7th place game at the National Tournament the 3rd seed Lady Bears were outdone by the #8 Lady Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University 73-62 last Friday in Missouri. OCU got off to a 18-14 lead after the first wuarter and led 33-24 at the break. Clinton then won the third quarter 26-24 but stumbled in the fourth scoring just 12 points.

Clinton shot 30% overall but just nine percent from three. Moore-Heath led the Bears with a huge game of 24 points and 21 rebounds on 8 of 13 shooting while junior guard Shabrica Leslie added 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals off the bench. Senior starters Kayla Pope and Kourtney English combined for 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and an English block in the loss while Gaddis could only manage 4 points with 6 rebounds and 3 steals as she struggled shooting all game.
