
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The top seeded Clinton College women's basketball team continued their winning ways on Wednesday night as they steamrolled past #2 seed Carolina University 67-53 to win the South Region Championship and advance to next week's NCCAA National Tournament in Missouri. The game was played at the new Rock Hill Sports & Events Center.
Clinton, ranked 8th in the NCCAA in the latest poll, improves to 22-3 on the season while extending their win streak to 14 straight games. They have not lost a game since December of 2024.
The Golden Bears, led by first year head coach Toccara Toland, will find out their opponent and game time when the bracket is released on Saturday. The tournament will be played at the College of the Ozarks in southern Missouri.
Junior shooting guard Tameah Gaddis was named Tournament MVP as she scored 19 points on 7 of 16 shooting including making five 3-pointers (41.5%). Senior point guard Kayla Pope also played well making 5 of 6 shots from the floor while tallying 11 points, 3 assists and 2 steals. Senior center Diamond Moore-Heath then was the third Bear to finish in double-figures posting 11 points with 6 rebounds, a steal and a block.
Senior forward Kourtney English led the team in rebounds with eight along with 3 assists, 2 blocks and 4 points while junior point guard Akiyonna Joiner added 8 points, 5 boards, 2 assists and 2 steals off the bench. The Leslie sisters, Jabrica and Shabrica combined for 10 points and 3 steals as well. CC shot 49 percent from the floor overall and 33 percent from three while out-rebounding Carolina 46-35.
