
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The 8th ranked Clinton College women's basketball team rallied to defeat NCCAA foe Bob Jones University 68-61 on the road in Greenville Monday night to secure their 9th straight win.
BJU (9-19) got out to a fast start leading 24-19 after the first quarter and 45-29 at halftime, However, the Lady Bears would not relent as they rallied to outscore the Bruins 22-10 in the third to get within four points at 51-55 after three quarters. Then, after trailing by six early in the 4th at the 7-minute mark, Clinton used back-to-back threes and a jump shot from senior center Diamond Moore-Heath to take a 61-59 edge with 5:30 to play. Back to back jump shots from guards Jabrica Leslie and Tameah Gaddis then put CC up six before a three from Gaddis gave Clinton the 7-point edge and completed a 15-2 run.
Clinton outscored the Bruins 17-6 in the 4th and 39-16 in the second half as CC shot 34.5% overall and 33 percent from three. They forced BJU into 28 turnovers and 16 fouls while recording 20 steals and pulling down 39 rebounds.
Clinton was led by 23 points from junior guard Tameah Gaddis and her five threes and 8 rebounds and 2 steals while Leslie added 10 points and 5 boards with 2 assists off the bench. Senior forwards Kourtney English and Moore-Heath combined for 18 points and 12 rebounds as well along with 6 steals and a block apiece. Guard Jala Hutchins also added 6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Clinton improves to 17-3 on the season and will next return home for Senior Day on Saturday when they host Toccoa Falls College at 1:00 pm.
