
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Clinton College women's basketball team wore down south region foe Regent University (Va.) en route to a 94-57 win at home on Saturday in Clinton's first game in 5 weeks.
A tight first quarter that saw the teams tied at 13 led to Clinton outscoring the depleted Royals 28-11 in the second period on way to a 41-24 halftime lead. Clinton then forced two of Regent's six players to foul out late in the third quarter helping them to win the third period 24-19 and the fourth 29-14.
CC was led by junior guard Tameah Gaddis' 27 points, a season-high, along with her team-best 8 steals and 4 assists. Three other Golden Bears also finished in double-figure scoring with junior guard Akiyonna Joiner posting 14 points and senior forward Kourtney English recording a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds with 4 steals, 2 blocks and 2 assists. Fellow forward Diamond Moore-Heath also scored 13 points with 5 boards and a block.
Clinton's junior guard Jabrica Leslie also finished with 8 points while her sister, Shabrica Leslie had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. The Lady Bears shot 50 percent overall and 21 percent from three while Regent shot 34.5 percent overall and made just one three-pointer.
Clinton improves to 9-3 on the year and drops RU to 1-11. The Bears remain home to host NCCAA foe Bob Jones University on Wednesday at 6 pm from JW Martin Gym.
