
TOCCOA, Ga. - The Clinton College women's baskeetball team rolled to an easy win on the road Monday evening stifling NCCAA foe Toccoa Falls College 67-43.
The win improves the Lady Bears to 6-1 on the season. Clinton was led by 13 points and 6 rebounds and a block from senior center Diamond Moore-Heath while junior guard Shabrica Leslie added 11 points and 3 steals. Twin sister and junior guard Jabrica Leslie also chipped in 8 points with 2 assists.
The Bears held the Lady Eagles to just 22 percent shooting overall and only 12 made baskets as TFC scored just 12 points in the opening quarter and 10 in the second as Clinton led 32-22 at the break. Clinton then outscored TFC 19-7 in the third and 16-14 in the fourth as they dominated the second half 35-21.
Clinton shot over 40 percent overall but made jus two threes. Senior guard Kayla Pope led with 8 rebounds and three assists while fellow junior guard Tameah Gaddis added 7 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. Senior forward Kourtney English led CC with 9 rebounds along with a steal and a block while fellow senior Symone Jackson recorded 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a team-best five steals.
Clinton returns to action Friday evening when they head to Augusta to battle conference rival Paine College at 5:30 pm.
