Lady Bears Rally Past Wilberforce for 3rd Straight Win

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Clinton College women's basketball team won their third straight game of the season as they rallied past Wilberforce University 72-60 on the road Tuesday night.

Season-leading scorer Jasmine Jenkins again led the Golden Bears with 24 points and 8 rebounds on 10 of 16 shooting along with 3 steals. Freshman guard Maiya Petit also finished in double-figure scoring posting 16 points on 6 of 9 shooting with 3 steals and an assist.

Fellow freshman guard Kaelin Davis was the final Lady Bear to finish in double digits scoring 11 points with 2 steals while the sophomore guard duo of Jakyiiah Willis and Jamila Jenkins combined for 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in the win.

WU got out to an 18-14 lead after the first quarter before heading into the break up by seven, 37-30, over the Lady Bears. Clinton then came out firing in the third quarter outscoring the Bulldogs 22-11 as they ended the quarter on a 14-0 run to take a 52-48 lead going into the fourth. The Bears then started the fourth on a 12-2 run to take a commanding 64-50 lead with five minutes to play. WU could not get within single digits for the rest of the game as Clinton went on for the win outscoring the Bulldogs 20-12 in the quarter and 42-23 in the half.

Clinton improves to 5-14 on the season and will next return home on Saturday for their final home game of the season when they host NCAA Div. II foe Virginia Union at 2 PM.
