Clinton Women Storm Past Morris by 40

ROCK HILL, SC - The Clinton College women's basketball team put on a terrific showing at home Saturday afternoon routing Morris College 85-46 from J.W. Martin Gymnasium.

The Lady Bears put four players in double-figures while three recorded double-doubles in the win. Sophomore forward Jasmine Jenkins led the Bears with a career-high of 27 points and 10 rebounds with 4 steals and a block while shooting 12 of 17 from the floor. Freshman guard Maiya Petit also garnered a double-double of season-highs of 16 points and 12 rebounds while sophomore point guard Jakyiiah Willis had a solid double-double as well with 16 points, a season-high 10 rebounds and five assists along with four steals.

Freshman guard Kaelin Davis also had a terrific game scoring 18 points to tie her season-high along with a season-best 8 rebounds, 5 assists and a season-high 7 steals.

Clinton got off to a quality start outscoring the Lady Hornets 22-10 in the first quarter before putting up 24 points in the second quarter to take a 46-24 lead at halftime. Morris then had their most productive offense in the third quarter scoring 20 points and even climbed to within 17 points at 36-53 just five minutes into the 3rd quarter. However, Clinton would then go on a 13-2 run to put the game out of reach going up 66-38 and lead 68-44 after three quarters.

The Bears then outscored the Hornets 17-2 in the fourth as the rout was on. CC shot 43 percent overall for the game while holding Morris to just 18 baskets and only 24 percent from the floor. Clinton outrebounded Morris 58-49 and grabbed 19 steals off 38 Morris turnovers.

Clinton improves to 4-14 and will next head on the road to Ohio to battle Wilberforce University on Tuesday at 8:00 PM.
