Lady Bears Fall just Short at Bob Jones

GREENVILLE, SC - The Clinton College women's basketball team fell just short on the road at NCCAA foe Bob Jones University 61-56 in Greenville Friday night.

Clinton got off to a 12-7 lead after the first quarter and held on to a slim 23-22 lead at the break holding BJU to just 16 percent shooting in the first quarter and only 28 percdent for the half.

The third quarter then saw each team trade points for a 17-17 draw as Clinton led 40-39. In the fourth, BJU started it off on a 10-2 run to take a 7-point lead before Clinton went on an 8-2 run of their own to get to within one point at 51-50 with 3:25 to go. But BJU would close out the game on a 10-6 run down the stretch for the win.

BJU improves to 9-11 while Clinton falls to 2-14.

Clinton was led by a huge double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds from sophomore forward Jasmine Jenkins along with a block while freshman guard Maiya Petit added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore guard Jakyiiah Willis was the final member of the Golden Bear trio to finish in double figures with 11 points along with 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. 

Freshman Guard Kaelin Davis struggled offensively scoring just 9 points but played well defensively grabbing 5 steals and 4 rebounds while sophomore guard Jamila Jenkins also had 5 steals and 4 boards.

Clinton will next return home on Tuesday night at 6 pm to host Voorhees University.
