WBB's Richmond Named December Athlete of the Month

December Student Athlete of the Month - Women's Basketball

HANAN RICHMOND- JR  Forward from Chicago, IL

The month of December was outstanding for junior forward Hanan Richmond, the Lady Golden Bears women's basketball team played 2 games. The women's team traveled to Newport News Va, where they played in the Great Ships Classic for the first time before finishing out the month at home. Unfortunately, the Bears fell short to both Washington Adventist and Miles College. The team was led by Hanan Richmond who averaged 12 points and 5 rebounds through both games, while shooting 50% from the field.

Richmond is currently in the NCCAA rankings for blocked shots where she averages 2.0 blocked shots a game. Her team is ranked 2nd in the NCCAA for scoring defense as they only allow teams to an avg. of 56.9 points per game.

"Richmond is a complete package," exclaimed coach Quick! "She is an undersized post player who can defend and lock down opposing teams' post players while also scoring at a high level outside the paint similar to a guard."

Congratulation to Hanan Richmond for being named the Women's Student Athlete of December.

Get to Know Hanan

Richmond's career goals after graduation is to open up her own hair salon, as she likes to do hair and learn new styles in her free time. She then eventually wants to get into coaching.

Hanan is inspired the most in life by her grandmother because "she is a strong woman who is very loving, and continues to motivate me to put the work in as a student athlete to later see the fruits of my labor of hard work."

Her favorite food is chicken wings and if she could have dinner with anyone it would be Whitney Houston.

Hanan chose Clinton because it was a good basketball program, and her belief and trust in Coach Quick to push her every day to be a better person on and off the court.

Her fondest memory at Clinton was turning the women's program around when they were the #1 team in NCCAA with a record of 21-3 in the '21-22 season.
