FMU too much for Lady Bears

Florence, S.C. - The Clinton College women's basketball team fell 83-50 on the road at quality NCAA Div. II foe Francis Marion Thursday evening.

FMU got out to a fast start leading 25-14 after the first quarter before Clinton got to within 28-17 in the second quarter. However, FMU would take the second frame 18-14 and lead 43-28 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Lady Patriots would come out firing pushing their lead to 30 points as they won the quarter 27-9. In the fourth, the teams would trade points and tie 13-13.

Clinton shot 26.5 percent overall but struggled from three making only two treys on 20 attempts. Guard Kaelin Davis led Clinton wtih 15 points and 4 assists along with 5 boards, a steal and a block while forward Jasmine Jenkins scored 12 pts with 8 rebounds and two steals. Center Amira Roy then had 8 points, 7 rebounds and a block while guard Jakyiiah Willis added 4 assists and 4 steals off the bench.

Clinton falls to 2-12 overall while FMU improves to 10-5. The Lady Bears return home Saturday to host Carolina University at 2 PM.
