Clinton Women's Rally Falls Short in Home loss

ROCK HILL, S.C.  - The Clinton College women's basketball team saw their fourth quarter rally come up just short Tuesday evening as they fell 69-66 at home to Wilberforce University (OH).

Clinton trailed by just two at halftime 29-27 before WU outscored the Golden Bears 22-14 in the third to take a 51-41 lead going into the fourth. The Clinton ladies then staged a fourth quarter rally outscoring the Bulldogs 25-18 as they climbed to within one point at 66-67 with a minute to go but, unfortunately, could not get over the hump in the tough loss.

Clinton was led by sophomore forward Jasmine Jenkins as she recorded a huge double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds with two steals while sophomore guard Jakyiiah Willis also played well tallying 17 points, 6 rebounds, and six steals.

Fellow sophomore guard Jamila Jenkins  finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds while freshman guard Maiya Petit added 9 points, 3 steals and an assist as well. Fellow freshman point guard Kaelin Davis also led the team with five assists along with 5 points and 3 steals. Clinton shot 31 percent overall while WU shot 48 percent.

Clinton falls to 1-8 with the loss and will next head to Greenville, SC for the MLK Classic to take on Paine College at 2:30 pm.
