Lady Bears Fall on the Road at Carolina U

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Clinton College women's basketball team fell 93-59 on the road at NCCAA foe Carolina University.

Carolina came out shooting well leading 25-13 after the first quarter before the second frame was more competitive at 14-13 as CU took a 39-26 halftime edge. The Bruins then also won the third quarter 25-16 and 29-17 in the fourth to take the win. 

Carolina shot 42 percent overall for the game while Clinton shot at a 30 percent clip and made just five threes. The Lady Bears were led by a trio of players scoing in double figures with sophomore forward Jasmine Jenkins leading the way scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds, and a block while freshman guard Maiya Petit scored 14 points with 3 assists. Freshman guard Kaelin Davis also added 11 points with 2 assists and 2 steals while sophomore guard Jakiiyah Willis also chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds with 4 assists and 4 steals. Fellow freshman guard Jasmine Lyde also had 6 points and 8 rebounds.

Clinton falls to 1-10 with the loss while they also lost 69-66 in a heartbreaker to Wilberforce Univ. at home Tuesday evening. Stats are still pending.

Clinton will next battle Paine College Saturday afternoon at 2 pm in Greenville, SC in the MLK Classic.
