Clinton women fall  to  talented Miles squad

Rock HILL, SC - The Clinton College women's basketball team was defeated 99-58 by a talented Div. II  SIAC squad in Miles College at home during their last game in mid-December.

The Lady Bears were led by 12 points, 5 rebunds, a block and 2 steals from junior forward Hanan Richmond while freshman guard Maiya Petit and sophomore forward Jasmine Jenkins each scored 11 points apiece. Freshman Guard Kaelin Davis led with 4 steals along with 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Senior guard Caleah Smith and freshman Jaclyn Wright-Thompson then combined for 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Clinton was battling with Miles throughout the first quarter trailing by just two, 16-14, heading into the second quarter. Miles then put up 30 in the second quarter to take a 46-30 halftime lead. Miles then pulled away in the second half winning each quarter by scores of 29-16 and 24-12 in the 3rd and 4th respectively.

The loss unfortunately dropped the Lady Bears to 1-8 overall while Miles improved to a SIAC-best 9-1.

Clinton will next be in action tonight, Tuesday at home to host Wilberforce University at 5:30 pm.
