Clinton Men Fall Just Short on Senior Day

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Clinton College men's basketball team fell just short on senior day against NCCAA foe Toccoa Falls College (Ga.) going down 70-67 at home Saturday afternoon.

Clinton got out to a strong 42-35 halftime lead after a quality opening half. However, TFC made some second half adjustments limiting the Golden Bears to just 25 points in the second half en route to outscoring them by ten, 35-25 to pick up the win.

Clinton shot 39 percent from the floor overall but struggled from long-range making jsut six of 21 threes (28.5%) while making just five free throws. Toccoa shot 42 percent overall making only five threes but knocking down 11 free throws. The Bears out-rebounded the Eagles 47-37 overall and 13-6 on the offensive glass. 

Junior guard Jordan Snipes Campbell led the Bears with 18 points and three 3-pointers along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals while senior wing Jordan Maxwell also added 10 points, 7 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals as well. 

In addition to his 11 game points, junior guard Jordan Miller also notched 1,000 career points in the defeat while adding 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Junior forward Cori Miller finished in double figures as well posting 12 points and 4 rebounds. Forward Devinir Garvey led the team with an impressive 15 rebounds along with 6 points and 3 blocks while junior guard Karter Allen added 8 points off the bench.

Clinton falls to 11-10 overall with the tough loss while TFC improves to 12-11. Clinton will go right back to action as they make the short trip to Spartanburg on Monday afternoon to battle SMC at 4:00 pm.
