Clinton Men Rally in Second Half to Defeat WAU; Stun TBC in OT Road Win

ROCK HILL, SC - The Clinton College men's basketball team rallied in the second half to knock off USCAA foe, Washington Adventist University (MD) 96-87 Wednesday evening from Rock Hill. They also defeated NCCAA foe, Trinity Baptist College (Fla.) 75-69 in overtime on the road Monday evening.

Clinton's big second half saw them outscore WAU 47-35 as they clamped down on defense after allowing 52 points to the Shock in the first half when they trailed 49-52 at the break. WAU led by 14 midway through the first half, 40-26, before CC slowly trimmed it down over the final 7 minutes 23-12 to get within three at halftime. Clinton then took their first lead at 55-52 early in the second before stretching it out to 12 with 4 minutes to go at 86-74.

The Bears shot 52 percent overall and an impressive 55 percent from three including four treys from junior wing Jordan Maxwell as he scored a team-high and career-high of 31 points with 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals on 12 of 18 shooting. Also scoring 30 points was sophomore guard Jordan Snipes Campbell on 11 of 18 shooting along with 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals.

Junior forward Devinir Garvey led the post players with 14 points and 5 rebounds along with 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks while fellow forward/shooting guard Cori Miller recorded 8 points. Guards Jordan Miller and Karter Allen also combined for 9 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in the win.

In the win over TBC, Clinton was led by 21 points, 5 rebounds, a block and 5 assists from Snipes Campbell while Maxwell scored 19 off the bench on 8 of 12 shooting along with 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Garvey registered 10 points 5 rebounds and a block while the Miller duo of Jordan and Cory combined for 10 points, 19 rebounds, and 4 assists. Karter Allen and Isaiah Borders also combined for 12 points and 3 steals.

TBC led 38-26 over Clinton at the half before CC sent it to overtime on Allen's three-pointer at the buzzer. Then, in OT, Clinton outscored the Eagles 10-4 for the comeback win.

Clinton improves to 6-1 on the season while dropping WAU to 1-5 and TBC to 0-2.

The Bears return to action on Saturday when they go on the road to battle NCAA D-3 foe, Pfeiffer University (NC) at 2 pm.
