Golden Bear Men Finish 4th at Nationals; Shannon Named to All-Tourney Team

WINONA PARK, IN - The 5th seeded Clinton College men's basketball team finished 1-2 at the NCCAA National Tournament to get 4th place last weekend at Grace College in Indiana.

Clinton (18-11) fell 88-73 to #6 SAGU American Indian College (18-9) on Saturday morning in the 3rd place game. Cedarville went on to win the tournament in the finals over #2 Wayland Baptist 88-72. Cedarville's toughest game of the tournament was their semifinal win over Clinton as they could only sneak past the Bears by just 5 points.

SAGU took a 39-35 halftime edge before outscoring the Bears 49-38 in the second half for the win. Clinton held a 31-24 lead in the first half, but saw SAGU close the half on a 15-4 run. The Warriros would push their lead to as much as 13 points late in the second half at 74-61. Clinton would then trim it down to 7 points at 79-72 with an 11-5 run at the 2 minute mark, but that would be as close as the Bears would get.

SAGU shot 54 percent for the game while Clinton shot 43.5 percent. Clinton was 34 percent from three and made 7 more than the Warriors, but SAGU had the edge at the free throw line making 14 more freebies in the game. Senior guard Paul Eromosele led the Bears with 19 points and four 3s along with 6 rebounds and 2 steals while senior forward Isaiah Stone finished with 14 points, four boards and a block before fouling out.

Senior Guards Tyler Hammond and RJ Bell also combined for 15 points, 7 assists and six rebounds while Cam Shannon and sophomore Isaiah Borders each recorded 8 points apiece.

Senior guard and South Region Player of the Year, Cam Shannon was named to the All-NCCAA Tournament team as he averaged 17.6 points/game while shooting 40% from three while averaging 9.7 rebounds and recording two double-doubles. He also totaled 6 assists and 5 steals.

Shannon finished the season averaging 22.5 points/game, shooting 42 percent from three while also averaging 7.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He finished with a school-record 1,453 points in his Golden Bear career (2019-2024).
