Clinton Men Cruise Past UFTL, Advance to Region Finals

ROCK HILL, SC - The 2nd seeded Clinton College men's basketball team cruised to a 93-72 victory over #3 Fort Lauderdale Univ in the semifinals of the NCCAA South Region Tournament at the Rock Hill Sports & Events Center.

Clinton outscored the Eagles 40-31 in the first half after starting off 16-6 and 28-16. The Bears then scored 53 in the second half outscoring UFTL 53-41 while shooting 51 percent in the half and 54 percent from three. 

Senior guard and Region Player of the Year Cam Shannon led the Bears with 28 points on 8 of 11 shooting and 2 threes along with 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Senior forward Isaiah Stone then finished with a double-double of his own posting 17 points and 13 rebounds with 2 assists and 3 steals. 

Clinton improves to 16-9 overall and will now face off with Paine College (12-12) in the South Region Final on Tuesday night at 6 pm from the RH Events Center. Paine defeated CIU 91-87 later Monday night.

Also playing well for the Golden Bears was senior guard RJ Bell as he registered 12 points and seven rebounds with four assists while junior wing Jordan Maxwell tallied 8 points and a block with senior guard Tyler Hammond posting six points. Sophomore wing Isaiah Borders and senior guard Paul Eromosele then combined for 15 points and 8 rebounds in the big win.
