Shannon's 44 Lead #14 Clinton to 9th Straight Win

WILBERFORCE, OH - The 14th ranked Clinton College men's basketball team rolled to their ninth straight win Tuesday evening as they posted another terrific offensive showing in defeating NAIA foe Wilberforce Univ. (OH) 121-104 on the road. Clinton scored at least 100 points for the 10th time this season and third straight game.

Senior guard Cam Shannon led the Golden Bears with a season-high 44 points on 16 of 23 shooting and six 3-pointers. Fellow senior guard RJ Bell also had a nice game scoring 23 points on 8 of 13 shooting along with 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. This was Shannon's second straight game of at least 40 points.

Senior guard Tyler Hammond also added 18 points and three 3-pointers while senior forward Isaiah Stone scored 17 points with 4 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Guard Karter Allen and Wing Jordan Maxwell also combined for 8 points with Allen assisting on two baskets off the bench. Freshman Jacobi Simpson also posted six points as well off the bench.

Clinton shot nearly 70 percent from the field and 58 percent from three as they put up 65 points in the first half en route to a nine-point halftime advantage. The Bears then scored 56 in the second half to outscore WU 56-48. Wilberforce fell to 5-19 with the loss.

Clinton improves to 15-7 overall and will now have a week off before going on the road to face Fort Lauderdale University (9-11) next Tuesday evening in Florida. Clinton is also 8-0 in the NCCAA South Region and is looking to host a home regional game in March.
