Stone Named Men's Basketball Student of the Month for December

December Student Athlete of the Month - Men's Basketball

ISAIAH STONE

In the month of December, the Golden Bears men's basketball team played two games resulting in a 1-1 record. The men traveled to the U.S. Virgin Islands where they played in the HBCU CLASSIC for the second year in a row. Unfortunately, Clinton fell short to Claflin University in the first game 89-72, but were then able to get the next win against University of Virgin Islands 92-90 in double overtime.

The team was led by Isaiah Stone who averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds through both games. He recorded a double-double in each game making it his 8th double-double on the season. Isaiah is currently 3rd in NCCAA in rebounding where he averages 10.3 rebounds per game and 9th in blocked shots where he averages 1.4 per game.

"Stone is a complete package on the court where he is able to lock down opposing team's big men and rebound at a very high level," said head coach Cory Sloan. "Congratulations to Isaiah Stone for being the Male Student Athlete of the month in December."

Stone's career goals after he graduates is to play post-grad basketball, play overseas and then eventually get into coaching. He is inspired most by his head coach, Coach Sloan. "He tries to keep me level-headed and see things from a different perspective to help me understand the game of basketball a little more," Stone said.

Stone chose Clinton because "it was a good program where I could lock in to get my grades where I needed them to be and develop on the court." Stone's fondest memory at Clinton was hiking with his teammates when they got lost and it ended up being over an 8 mile hike when a lot of them had never hiked before.

If Isaiah could have dinner with anyone it would be Michael Jordan and they would enjoy jerk chicken while his favorite hobby is to go to the gym whenever he has a free day.
