Golden Bears Edge Paine 94-87 at Home

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Clinton College men's basketball team rallied late to hold off NCCAA foe Paine College 94-87 at home Friday night from J.H. Martin Gymansium to earn their 5th straight win.

Senior guard Cam Shannon led the Bears with 28 points and 11 rebounds and 2 assists for a souble-double while senior point guard RJ Bell also poured in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Clinton climbed out to a 16-8 lead early on before Paine went on a prolonged 25-10 run over the next 8 minutes to take a 33-26 lead and force a Bear timeout. Clinton, though, would close the half on a 20-10 run to take a slim 46-43 lead at the break.

Inn the second half, Paine would come out hot and go on a 14-5 run to take a 6-point lead over the Bears 57-51 just five minutes into the half. Clinton would rally but could never get within more than one point over th next 10 minutes until taking an 82-79 lead on Shannon's free throws with 4:30 to play which completed a 31-21 run.

Clinton woild then use some clutch three-pointers from senior guard Paul Eromosele down the strech to close the game on a 12-5 run and grab their 11th win. He finished with 16 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Junior forward Jordan Maxwell also played well finishing with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. The last member of the Golden Bears to finish in double figures was senior forward Isaiah Stone with 10 points and 6 rebounds. 

The Bears shot 40 percent overall and an impressive 85.7 % from the free throw line while Paine shot 52 percent overall but made 13 less free throws on the night. 

Clinton improves to 11-7 overall and 6-0 inthe NCCAA South.  Clinton will next be in action next Saturday at 2:00 when they host Virginia-Lynchburg University.
