Golden Bear Men Knock off Fayetteville St.

GREENVILLE, SC - The Clinton College men's basketball team knocked off CIAA foe Fayetteville State (N.C.) 74-69 at the MLK Classic in Greenville Saturday night.

Clinton improves to 8-7 with the win and will next return home Thursday night to host Fort Lauderdale at 7 pm.

A closely contested first half saw the Bears lead by just one at halftime 33-32 after leading by as much as six over the first 20 minutes but outscored FSU 41-37 in the second half for the win. 

Clinton extended their lead to eight at 42-34 early in the second half before going up by as much as 16 just 8 minutes into the second half to lead 52-36 with 12:00 to play. CC would continue to hold a double-digit lead leading 64-49 with 6 minutes to play before FSU would cut it to five multiple times down the stretch, but could get no closer the rest of the way.

Guard Cam Shannon led Clinton with 25 points on 7 of 9 shooting and a perfect 3 of 3 from behind the arc. He also had 10 rebounds, 3 assists, a block and a steal to record a double-double. Also playing well was forward Isaiah Stone with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 assists before fouling out.

Forward Jordan Maxwell also added 8 points and 6 rebunds with a steal and an assist while guard Karter Allen contributed 9 points and two assists off the bench.
