Clinton Falls to Lindsey Wilson to Finish up KY Weekend

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Clinton College men's basketball team wrapped up a weekend series in Kentucky against NAIA foes by falling 105-93 to Lindsey Wilson College Sunday in central Kentucky.


The Golden Bears opened the game scoring six of the first eight points and then led 15-10 before the Blue Raiders went on an 8-1 run to lead 18-16 with 11:35 to play in the first half.

Clinton then responded scoring the next six points to take a 22-18 advantage. Lindsey Wilson (8-6) then rattled off an 11-0 run to take a 29-22 lead with 7 minutes to play in the half. Clinton scored seven of the next nine points trimming the Blue Raider lead to 31-29 but LWC closed out the first half leading 50-44.

In the second half, Clinton trailed 59-52 before going on a 6-2 run to get within three at 61-58 with 15 minutes to play. The Blue Raiders then rattled off a 12-2 run to increase their lead to 73-60 and went on to remain in control for the rest of the game as Clinton could only get to within nine points over the final 11 minutes.

Clinton shot 40 percent for the game and 34 percent from three while LC shot 51 percent overall, but was held to just 16 percent shooting from three. The big difference came at the free-throw line as Clinton was issued for 30 fouls resulting in 43 FTs for LWC while the Raiders had just 17 fouls committed. 

The Bears were led by another double-double from forward Isaiah Stone with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Also playing well and finishing in double-digits were guards Cam Shannon and Tyler Hammond as they combned for 33 points while Shannon scoring 18 along ith 5 boards, 4 asssits and 2 stals while Hammond shot 4 of 5 from three-point range and had 15 points. Paul Eromosele also added 12 points off the bench as well while guard RJ Bell had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals off the bench.

Clinton falls to 6-7 overall and will next return home to host Wilberforce College (OH) on Tuesday at 8 PM.
