PAINE COLLEGE TO HOST MLK HOOP DAY

Rucker Park Streetball is making its way into the HBCU basketball world yet again with their 2nd MLK Hoop Day featuring the Golden Bears of Clinton College, and the host team, Paine College Lions on January 16 in Augusta, Ga.

The day will continue to honor the legacy of the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. while highlighting, this time around, small HBCU schools who are continuing to make an impact within their communities. While the main attraction is the double-header basketball affair, this MLK Hoop Day will acknowledge Lifetime Achievement Award recipients, the President of Clinton College, The Reverend Dr. Lester Agyei McCorn, the President of Paine College, Dr. Cheryl Evans Jones, Clinton's VP of Student Success/Dean of Students, Dr. Angelyne Brown, Dr. Theresa Price, CEO, the National College Resources Foundation (NCRF), and George Bailey, retired athletic director of Richmond County Schools

On the women's side, Paine College is coming with a vengeance against Clinton College. Their history has left the Lady Lions with a sour taste in their mouth as Clinton Lady Golden Bears currently reign supreme with a 2-0 record against Paine in the past two seasons. This past November Clinton defeated Paine 81-67, while their first meeting left the Lady Golden Bears victorious, 105-61.

For the men's basketball showdown, this will be a game that will go down to the buzzard. Last year the two met and Clinton College suffered a one-point loss to the Paine Lions (106-105).
