Entering his 2nd season as the Head Coach and third overall season with the Clinton Golden Bears, Cory Sloan bolsters a 43-10 overall record and was the NCCAA South Regional Coach of the Year in his 1st season as Head Coach at the age of 27. 

During the 2022-23 season, with a 23-3 record Sloan guided the Clinton Golden Bears to the NCCAA Division 1 National Championship, marking the 1st time in school history and doing so in the first season as members of the National Chrisitan College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The Golden Bears finished the season scoring 106.2 ppg and grabbing 48.8 rebounds per game, both ranking 1st in NCCAA Division 1. The bears also finished 2nd in Field Goal % (52.1) and 1st in 3PT % (39.4).

The 2022-2023 season saw a number of records set for the Golden Bears, including Most Points Scored (141 against Hosana Bible), Most Field Goals Made (48 against FiveTowns College), Most Field Goal Attempts (135 at UV Lynchburg), and Most Free Throws Made (33 at UV Lynchburg). The 2021-2022 men's basketball team also became the first team in school history to notch a victory over a NCAA Division 2 school when they beat Edward Waters 105-80 and then Kentucky State 98-91 at the USVI HBCU Classic.

Sloan had multiple student athletes receive All-Region awards, with Cameron Shannon getting a 1st Team All Region and Jeremiah Anderson a 2nd Team All Region. Cameron Shannon also went on to receive an All-American 3rd team for NCCAA D1. 

Before Clinton, Sloan spent time as a high school assistant basketball coach at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, SC for 5 years where he led the program to a 74-42 record, back to back 20+ win seasons and the 1st region championship in over 20 years. Prior to Northwestern, Sloan was a manager and assistant video coordinator at Winthrop University where he got his bachelors in Sport Management. During his time at Winthrop, the team had a 68-29 record and went to the Big South Championship game 3 years a row, winning in the 2016-2017 season to earn a bid to the NCAA D1 National Tournament.
