Vincent Robinson became the Director of Athletics on August 28, 2023. He was the deputy director of athletics for operations, academics, student services, new initiatives, and special projects at Miles College during the 2022-2023 school year. Under his watch Miles College soared academically winning the academic Commissioner’s Cup for having the best grades in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference(SIAC). Nine of the ten athletic programs achieved over a 3.0 GPA and the tenth had a 2.958. He instituted a mandatory five hours of team study hall each week for every athletic program. Robinson created the mentor’s program in which every student athlete in their junior year receives a professional mentor in their major of study. 

As the associate head coach of men’s basketball at Miles College, Robinson was noted for his recruiting prowess as he was named one of the 50 most impactful D-2 assistant coaches in the country by Silver Waves Media. He was also selected as the top D-2 HBCU assistant coach by Minority Coaches Association. A noted skills developer, Robinson worked with the big men. From 2018-2023 Miles College was the #1 ranked NCAA D-2 defensive team in the country.  Miles College won three SIAC championships in four years(COVID year there was no season). He mentored many student athletes.          Robinson founded The Robinson School in Irvington, N.J., where he established it as one of the premier prep programs in the country. He started his head coaching career at NIA Prep in Newark, N.J., and finished his inaugural season by winning the Apex School Prep Regional Tournament. Every student-athlete at NIA Prep received a scholarship. Coach Robinson’s 2009-10 NIA Prep team was ranked No. 9 by ESPN. The 2014-15 Robinson School team won the post graduate National Championship. Coach Robinson has a head coaching record of 287-55 winning eight Conference Championships and was selected Coach of the Year six times. Every student-athlete who has played for him at The Robinson School received a scholarship. He has numerous former student-athletes playing professionally in the G-League or internationally.

After graduating from Rutgers University-Newark, Robinson began his career as an assistant coach at Irvington High School. Robinson was a star basketball player at Union County College and Rutgers University-Newark. He was captain on the basketball team at Rutgers University- Newark his junior and senior seasons, leading his team in scoring and rebounding from 1993-1995. Coach Robinson was one of three players in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in the top-5 in scoring and rebounding.
Robinson is a native of Irvington, N.J. and graduated from Irvington High School. He attended Union County College before transferring to Rutgers University- Newark, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2003 and a master's certificate in Non-Profit Management in 2004. He founded the Vincent Robinson Basketball Academy Summer Camp in 2002, which teaches fundamental basketball to kids ages 5-17 in New Jersey.

Vincent is a thirteen-year member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and teaches financial literacy, credit repair and business credit in his spare time. Coach Robinson has five children: Kimberly, Tiarah, Keyera, Taylor and Jayden.  He has three grandchildren Francesca(10), Kyla(6) and Omar(3).
